More Elevate details
Dr Justin Varney, speaking here at Elevate 2016, will be back again this year as part of the Inclusivity seminar stream
Elevate, the UK’s largest cross-sector event focused on tackling physical inactivity, aims to directly address the root cause of this issue by uniting experts from the physical activity sector, academia, healthcare, government and sports performance.

Taking place at ExCel, between 10-11 May 2017, the 4,000 attendees will have access to the free programme and the opportunity to hear from around 200 speakers from the physical activity, health and performance sectors.

Four seminar streams are in place for this year’s event including: ‘Physical Activity for Health and Wellbeing’, ‘Future Performance’, ‘Inclusivity: Creating an Active Nation’, and the newest stream, ‘The Business of Physical Activity’.

Those speaking include representatives from Public Health England, Nuffield Health, Age UK, GSK, eGym, Ernst & Young, parkrun, Life Fitness, and English Institute of Sport.

Dr Joe Piggin, programme director at Loughborough University, who will be speaking at the event, comments: “I will explore the how the physical activity sector can successfully collaborate with brands to deliver effective, responsible and well targeted programmes, and the role of consumer brands in supporting increased participation.”

In addition to the free presentations and workshops running throughout the two days, attendees can also visit the enlarged exhibition space which includes nine feature areas, three attractions, a dedicated stage and over 150 stands – providing attendees with an unrivalled opportunity to learn more about physical activity, health and performance.

Elevate is the UK’s largest physical activity trade event. Held annually Elevate brings the physical activity sector together with those working in performance and health to tackle one of the most important challenges of our time: tackling physical inactivity.
“The importance of the event, Elevate, is to bring together the fitness industry, the technology industry, the healthcare sector and the really important people - who are the practitioners who promote physical activity - and give them a sound bed of evidence to take away and use in their everyday lives. New equipment, new ideas, new energy.” Prof. Charlie Foster, World Health Organisation and Oxford University.
